Commercial chemicals are so expensive now that making your own can save money that can be better spent on new plants.
After the success that readers had with our home made herbicide, I thought it was time to branch out and try another one. So here goes:
1 quart water
1 1⁄2 tablespoons baking soda,
2 tablespoons of detergent (preferably without bleach)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil.
Step 1 - The vegetable oil should go into your container first
Step 2 - Add all other ingredients
Step 3 - Give it a good shake.
Don’t spray on a hot day, the mix will burn your plants. Spray early morning, on an overcast day or early evening. Store your spray in a safe place. (Not a systemic spray- reapplications may be necessary).
